UJALA Scheme – Govt to Provide 3 crore LED bulbs in Tamil Nadu

In a press release, the Energy and Efficiency service limited (EESL) has announced in Tamil Nadu that the government will be distributed 3 crores LED bulbs under the UJALA scheme.The Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) also announced that tube light and fans will be distributed.Three crores LED bulbs, 35 lakh LED tube lights and 10 lakh fans will be distributed in this scheme.Through the scheme consumers will save more than Rs 1,650 crore and it will also result in energy savings of 416 crore kWh annually.

In Tamil Nadu government has been distributed, 23.4 crores LED bulbs, 20.6 lakh tube lights and 7.7 lakh fans among consumers.The aims of the scheme are to replace 77 crore inefficient bulbs with LED bulbs.In press release also said that the Unnat Jeevan by Affordable LEDs and Appliances for all (UJALA) programme has already been launched in Chennai and very soon it will be introduced in all other districts of Tamil Nadu.The national programme manager, UJALA, EESL, Rajkumar Rakhra said that it will help consumers in reducing their electricity bills, also help the government save energy and benefit the environment as well
