In order to promote institutional deliveries in government hospitals, the Telangana State Government has launched a new scheme in the state named KCR Kits Scheme. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao launched this scheme at the Government Maternity Hospital-Petlaburj in the city. The scheme was simultaneously launched across the State.
The scheme stresses on the welfare of pregnant women and newborns by offering financial assistance to them. About 2.70 lakh pregnant women are expected to get benefit under the scheme.
Under KCR Kits Scheme, the state government of Telangana will provide a financial assistance of Rs 14,000 to the Pregnant women of the state in four phases.
Besides this, an additional amount of Rs. Rs 1,000 will be given in the case of delivery of a baby girl. The assistance would be directly transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries in four installments.
Besides this, a kit of Rs. 2,000 consist of soaps for mother and child, baby oil, a cradle, a mosquito net, dresses, sarees, a handbag, towels, napkins, powder, diapers, shampoo and toys for the child is given to the pregnant mothers.
The main motto of KCR Kits Scheme to reduce the infant mortality rate and encourage institutional deliveries in government hospitals and would be applicable for two deliveries.
CM Rao had also launched a website of KCR Kit. It will enable both the officials and also the beneficiaries for live monitoring of the number of deliveries in the government hospitals along with the status of the beneficiaries and the financial assistance issued for them.
