In Majuli, Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal launched the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana on Sunday. In the ceremony, Chief Minister distributed LPG connection to selected beneficiaries. About 16,000 Majuli families which are under BPL will be benefited in the scheme.
In Tamilnadu, Minister of state Pon. Radhakrishnan handed over LPG connection at Nagercoil in Kanyakumari District. Mr. Pon. said “The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana at Tamilnadu will help women in backward rural areas to lead a healthier life. The smoke and soot from firewood used for cooking in villages have been proved to be equivalent to the smoke from 400 cigarettes.”
Haryana government has decided to make the state kerosene-free. This step has been taken from 1 April. Haryana government has decided to issue 13,000 LPG connections to the poor families under the PM Ujjwala Yojana within the next two days. This announcement was made by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on the same day. The officials hold a meeting onward at the concluding day of the two-day state executive meeting of the BJP for this purpose.
Around 2 crore people have been distributed free LPG connections under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. A new update has been made under LPG connection to be provided under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. As aadhar card has been mandatory for many schemes now government has mandate Aadhar card for LPG connections too. Women of households below poverty line will need to enrol for Aadhaar by May 31 to be able to avail themselves of a free LPG connection under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwla yojana has done its work greatly all over the country.Right now under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana government has already achieved the target of 1.5 crore LPG connection under PMUJ in the first year of launch under the scheme. Under this central government-run oil marketing companies has temporarily postponed the further release of new connections after meeting the target of 1.5 crore LPG connections under PMUJ in its first year.
