Solar Energy Scheme to Promote Power-loom Sector by Delhi Government is anew scheme that Delhi government is planning to launch. Main aim under this scheme will protect the interest of the power loom weavers. This scheme is formulated to provide financial assistance subsidy to small power-loom units.

Under the Solar Energy Scheme, the plants will have two options as stated by officials –
- On Grid Solar Power Plant where power shortage is negligible and power tariff is high
- Off Grid Solar Power Plant in areas where there is power shortage & on-grid power is not continuously available.
Financial assistance and capital subsidy to the extent of 50 per cent will be provided to those who are interested to apply under this Power-loom scheme, 75 per cent and 90 per cent of the basic cost of the solar energy plant to applicants.
Subsidy to be provided
Under the scheme, subsidies for different SPV plants will be given in the range of Rs 2,25,000 to Rs 8,55,000 depending upon the capacity of the SPV plant and the category viz General, SC or ST.
Solar Energy Scheme will come into effect from 1 April 2017. The government said that Solar Energy Scheme is formulated a scheme to provide incentives and concessions to loom weavers to utilize solar energy to increase production.
The Minister said the government has launched a special package for garment and made-ups segment besides implementing various schemes for upgrading decentralized powerloom, handloom and handicraft sector through Solar Energy Scheme.
