PMAY Tamil Nadu: According to the source, the Tamil Nadu government will be constructed 2,00000 houses Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for the economically weaker sections (EWS). The estimated cost of the Scheme is 7,800 crores.
1,84000 lakhs houses will be built by PMAY Tamil Nadu to be constructed 2 Lakhs houses under Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC). The Financial Assistance will be provided to individual eligible families belonging to the economically weaker sections either construct new houses or enhance existing houses.
The estimated cost of individuals houses would be 5,600 crores with the Union and State Subsidy. Rs 2,10000 will be given per unit by the government.
The state government will identify the beneficiary. The financial assistance would be released to the bank account of the selected beneficiaries by the central government. The assistance amount will be given in three to four installment in proportion to the value of construction. To ensure Standard and quality houses and infrastructure, the government will be taking the preventive and curative measures.
The government has also hired the third party quality monitoring agencies to ensure the quality of construction.
The state level nodal agency for affordable housing, The Slum Clearance Board coordinates and oversees the TPQMA.
The Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board is going to construct 15,000 multi- storeyed tenements and 6,874 house through Tamil Nadu Housing Board. The cost of a unit is 10,00000 rupees and the total cost of the project is 2,200 crores under the Affordable Housing Scheme, a component of the central government Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
According to the source, the state government may unveil the Housing scheme and habitat policy in Assembly session. The state government currently drafting the state housing policy. Government offering incentive to the private sector to participate in the scheme. The Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board will be the state level nodal agency for the Housing for All Mission.
