Odisha government has announced rewards if housing beneficiary complete the work within four months, the government will give Rs 20,000 extra as an incentive. The state government has set a target to complete 6,00,000 houses under different rural housing scheme during the current financial year. This decision is taken in a review meeting of the rural housing schemes under PMAY which is led by the Chief Secretary AP Padhi.
The Panchayati Raj Secretary DRK Singh, ” Odisha is a leading state in implementation of the rural housing schemes under PMAY. The state has so far completed construction of 12.18 lakh house units since 2014-15,” said Panchayati Raj Secretary DRK Singh. He also said that over 85,000 houses have been completed in 2017 under different rural housing schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana.
In the state, the rate of house completion per day increased from 300 per day to 644 per days but the chief secretary said to keep a target to complete 3000 houses per days. He also instructs to the district collector to ensure hanging of beneficiaries list on the wall of Gram Panchayat office.
The state government has sanctioned Rs 5,000 crore for the rural housing schemes for the current fiscal and also similar budget provision for the next years. In the Integrated Action Plan *IAP) areas government will give Rs 1.30 lakh to the beneficiaries for the construction of the house and Rs 1.20 lakh for the non-IAP districts get Rs 1.20 lakh for the purpose.
Many of the people do not complete their houses in time so the government has announced an incentive for complete work within time. If beneficiaries who complete house construction within the four months, he will receive Rs 20,000 cash incentive and if any beneficiaries will complete houses within six months then he will get Rs 10,000 incentive. Apart from this, the government will give Rs 12,000 for constructing of toilets under Swachha Bharat Mission.
