In order to encourage girls to fulfill the school’s education, the Mai Bhago Vidya Yojana was started in the year 2011-12 with an ambitious goal.
The goal of the Mai Bhago Vidya Yojana is to ensure that girls continue their education beyond their primary level and to increase enrollment of girls, increase the number of girls in senior secondary and higher secondary level levels. Mai Bhago is the name of a brave Sikh lady soldier who guided Sikh soldiers against the Mughals in 1705. He was the hero of that war because he killed many Mughal soldiers.
Most girls in Punjab leave their education after 8th standard because the schools are away from their home. It is not easy for them to go to school without any vehicle and most of Punjab’s families can not buy vehicles or bicycles for their girls.
