Karnataka PM Ujjawala Yojana Launched on Monday
Karnataka PM Ujjawala Yojana: – In Vijayapura district, Karnataka Union Minister of State for Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Ramesh Jigajinagi launched the PM Ujjawala Yojana on Monday. Under the Scheme more than two lakh, poor families in the state have been provided free LPG connections.
The Minister said that the Central government aim to provide 5 crore LPG connection to the poor families in the next five years. He said that 2.48 crore LPG connection has been already provided till date.
He said that the main objective of the Karnataka PM Ujjawala Yojana is providing clean fuel to the poor families of the rural areas. India becomes free from the smoke which is generated from the using firewood during cooking food.
The Minister said that according to 2011 Socio-economic survey of the centre, 4.47 lakh families are in the state of which 2.27 lakh families have LPG connection.
He said, “As far as Vijayapura district is concerned, 83.70 % have LPG connections, and we will cover the remaining families in the coming days to make the district free from the use of traditional methods of cooking.” 2.19 lakh families in the state which are required LPG Connection, the minister urged the deserving families get LPG connection without going to the middleman.
Omkarnath Pandey, Coordinator of the scheme spoke in the ceremony. The former BJP MLAs Vithal Katakadonda and Appu Pattanshetty were present.
