Govt. Decided to Connect Wi-Fi in 25000 Villages Under Digital India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi e-governance Programm, under the Programme, Prime Minister has announced connect all the village with Wi-Fi facility. The Digital India project is based on three key vision areas that are Digital Infrastructure as a Core Utility to Every Citizen, Governance, and Services on Demand and Digital Empowerment of Citizens.


25,000 village Panchayat will be covered under the National Optical Fibre Network (NOFN). Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is the nodal Department for this project. The government Telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is the partner of government for covering all the village. BSNL will install the Wi-Fi service in the selected village.

The work of Wi- Fi installation will be done within four months. BSNL is now working to complete the project within time.

The total cost of the installation of Wi-Fi in 25,000 villages is 940 crores rupees. After the installation of Wi- Fi in villages, villagers will use the internet service free of cost.

The Digital India improves the lifestyle of the rural areas people. Prime Minister Wants to e-governance. In the e- governance service, service of government will be faster than the current manual process. Through the connectivity of Wi-Fi, the service of government will more transparent. Through the Digital process, Corruption rate will be reduced.
