Govt. to Construct 12 Lakh Houses under PM Awas Yojana Urban in 2017-18

The central Government has set a target to construct 12 lakh houses under PM Awas Yojana Urban in 2017-18, Only 1.49 lakh houses build in 2016-17 under the scheme.

The official said that the main reason for the delay of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is land acquisition. The Centre government targets construction of 26 lakh houses in 2018-19, 26 lakh in 2019-20, 30 lakh in 2020-21 and 29.80 lakh in 2021-22, according to the senior government official.

The official said “So far, the proposal for construction of 18.76 lakhs houses have been sanctioned, and funding for construction of 13.06 lakh houses has been issued. But, due to delay in land acquisition, only 1.49 lakh houses have been completed under PMAY (Urban) in 2016-17.” The central government launched Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in 2015 to ensure housing for all by 2022.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is a dream project of PM Narendra Modi.To ensure housing for all by 2022. The central government aims to build housing for all who has not own house.
