In Uttar Pradesh Government has alert against a scam across the state. In the scam, promises cash incentive of Rs 1-2 Lakh to parents of girls under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana, in the scheme Rs 5 to 50 is demanded for the incentive.
Across UP, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Bihar, which seeks to address the gender imbalance and discrimination against the girl child, thousand have fallen prey to the scam promising benefits under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana.
In fake application form is only single page guidelines is mentioned, in the guideline said that all girls and women of 18 to 32 years age group are eligible to submit the application to the Union ministry of women and child development (WCD).
An instruction has been given to all district magistrates and senior police officers by the senior official of the State Women and Child Welfare Department to check on the scam after being alerted by the Union ministry.
Some individuals are distributing fake registration form of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme misinforming parents that 1 lakh is credited each in the name of their daughters when their girl age will be 18.The principal secretary of the Women and Child Welfare Department, Mrs. Renuka Kumar warns in an official letter.
When hundreds of such duly filled in fake and illegal forms have reached the Union WCD ministry as well as UP’s Women and Child Welfare Department from different districts of the state, Mrs. Kumar said that the gang is alluring people towards the scheme by claiming that Rs 1-2 lakh will be credited to their account under the scheme if they fill up a particular form for which they charge Rs 50 or so despite the fact that there is no such provision to dispense cash under the scheme.
She also said, “It has spread rapidly ahead of the assembly elections held in 5 states in February-March this year. The matter is serious in nature. People are queuing in post offices to deposit these forms,”. She has ordered all the Post Office to put up a notice that no such forms would be accepted.If anyone sells the form then he will be arrested.
The union minister issued a warning that there was no such provision to dispense cash under the scheme, on February 16.7 women were arrested in Muzaffarnagar and two other in Pilibhit on February 15 for allegedly duping people by taking money to get them registered for the fake scheme.
