PMAY Urban: – In the first two years of the launch of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) Urban, over 21,00000 Affordable houses have been sanctioned so far. In the scheme, Uttar Pradesh has received the largest number of the houses about 70,784 followed by Karnataka 56,281.
The secretary of Housing and Urban Affairs, Mr Durga Shankar Mishra has reviewed the progress of the affordable under CLSS (Credit Link Subsidy Scheme this week. He directed the two Central nodal agencies – NHB and HUDCO that prepare action plans to ensure the target is met under CLSS component of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). He also instructed the official that Identified at least two lakh Middle Income Group (MIG) beneficiaries by the December this year.
In the meeting, it was informed that there are 43,166 economical weaker section (EWS) and lower income group (LIG) beneficiaries out of 21 lakh affordable houses sanctioned under PMAY Urban so far. Total 824 crore has been disbursed interest subsidy for EWS and LIG beneficiaries. CLSS for MIG ends by the December this year.
The Credit Link Subsidy Scheme (CLSS) has been extended by the Government to the Middle Income Group up to the annual income of Rs 12- 18 lakh. Under this, the interest subsidy of four percent and three percent on housing loans will be provided by the government.
In Uttar Pradesh 1,0632 crore has been given by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation for the construction of 70,784 affordable houses out of the total cost of the project is 3,528 crore.
Uttar Pradesh has sent affordable housing proposals for 145 cities and all the proposal have been approved. The total number of the houses sanctioned for UP has increased to 1,12,738 with the latest approval. The Rajiv Awas Yojana has been now subsumed under PMAY (Urban). Uttar Pradesh has been sanctioned 41,954 houses including those approved under Rajiv Awas Yojana.
With the Central Government assistance of 844 crore, Karnataka has been sanctioned 56,281 more affordable houses for 93 cities and town with an investment of 2950 crore. First time, Andaman & Nicobar Islands have been sanctioned 609 houses for Port Blair with an investment of Rs 54 crore and central assistance of Rs 9 crore.
