Good news as the state government has decided to create 12 new mini smart cities in Madhya Pradesh as on behalf of Smart City Project. This project will be led by Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led BJP government. He has announced that it will create 12 mini smart cities to complement the five smart cities in Madhya Pradesh.
Under this process of creating mini smart cities, 12 towns will be selected from all across the state and they will be developed on the lines of the smart city. The first town to be selected under this is Maihar, a temple town in Satna district for the mini smart city project. This has been promised by Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan to develop the town in the run-up to the Maihar assembly poll earlier this year. Also, the remaining 11 towns will be announced in November.
And a total amount of Rs 300 crore has been set by the government under the chief minister’s infrastructure development scheme for developing 12 towns into mini-smart cities. Along with this state government has decided that they will grant Rs 25 crore to each municipality. The municipal bodies will set up special-purpose vehicles and raise more funds for development for the purpose. Main aim to make this step will lead towards development among small towns. They have promised that towns will have better transport services, Wi-Fi connectivity, better garbage management practices etc.
