1 Lakh More Affordable Houses Approved under PMAY (Urban) – Latest

Good News – As Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is spreading day by day. Now the government has approved the construction of 100,537 more affordable homes under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) category. The investment set to build these housing units is of Rs 4,200 crore.This decision has been taken by the government after noticing needs of houses in Madhya Pradesh.

Note that Madhya Pradesh state has already got 57,131 homes sanctioned by the government, Tamil Nadu with 24,576 homes, Manipur with 6,231, Chattisgarh with 4,898, Gujarat with 4,261, Assam with 2,389, Kerala with 643, Jharkhand with 331 and Daman & Diu with 77 homes – all stats released by the government.

Ministry of housing and urban poverty alleviation (HUPA) has 1,875,389 homes approved so far for EWS category with a total investment of Rs 1,00,466 crore. The ministry also approved approx 1,065,058 affordable housing units under the beneficiary led construction component of PMAY (Urban). A central assistance of Rs 1.50 lakh each has been also provided for each housing unit

The government has released a press according to which of 587,115 homes have been sanctioned under affordable housing in partnership. State governments provide land/financial assistance for housing projects for which central assistance of Rs 1.50 lakh has been given for per house to each beneficiary.

The state where new housing units will be built are Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura, along with the UTs of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu and Puducherry.A fresh demand survey has been asked by government from UTs to undertake fresh demand survey for affordable housing, and the process is close to completion.
